How does it work?
Typically, we’ll request your most recent quarterly power bill. Where it is safe to do so, we’ll also ask you to collect a photo of your power box. Not sure how to do this? Don’t worry, you’re in safe hands with our team who’ll talk you through this.
A solar solution is simple. Your solar panels turn sunlight into electricity – even when it’s cloudy. That electricity then heads to an inverter, where it is converted into a form of energy that can be used by your home.
From there your electrical panel or fuse box distributes the electricity to your home to power your lights and appliances.
Any extra power you don’t use will go back to the grid, which may give credit on your power bill.
We take the time to review your current energy usage and future energy needs, and then design a solution that maximises the benefit you can get from the sun. A system that is too small for your future energy needs will increase your dependence on the grid. A system that is too large will add unnecessary cost. A Bare Energy solar solution is tailored to your current and future energy needs.
We believe every Australian should have access to clean renewable energy. Contact us, and our team of Energy Consultants and designers will find a solar solution for your home.
Yes, you can. Your Energy Consultant can help with an energy review to see what additional solar you may need to service your future energy needs. In many cases homes that already have solar are still eligible for additional government incentives.
Our designers use software to analyse the annual sun exposure for each part of your roof, factoring shading from trees and nearby properties. We also take into consideration aesthetics, so that your solar solution not only meets your energy needs but also looks great.
At both a federal and state level, different incentives are in place to support homeowners looking to install solar. Your Energy Consultant will be able to tell you more about the incentives available to you.
A battery will store energy created by your solar panels when they’re not actively producing electricity. For example, when the sun has set, energy conserved in the battery is used rather than drawing fossil-fuel generated power from the grid. Speak to an Energy Consultant to discover whether incorporating a battery into your solar solution is right for you.
Many Australian homes with swimming pools have legacy solar heating systems that occupy the roof space with the best sun exposure. We would recommend replacing the solar pool heating system with a heat pump, which utilises energy created by your solar panels to heat your pool. That way you get the best of both worlds; a home and a pool powered by the sun.
A hot water heat pump absorbs warmth from the air and transfers the warm air to heat your water. They operate on electricity but are approximately three times more efficient than conventional electric water heaters. Our Energy Consultants can explain how including a hot water heat pump as part of your Bare Energy solar solution can help you save.
Installation
A typical residential installation can be completed in less than a day. On the day of install:
1. Our team will greet you on arrival, and explain the day’s activities to you.
2. We complete a safety audit before stepping foot on your roof.
3. Your solar solution is installed.
4. We remove any waste, and leave your home the way we found it.
5. A representative from our team will call you shortly after installation to schedule your handover.
6. Your solution is turned on and ready for your enjoyment.
We ensure all the holes drilled to anchor the system and panels are watertight. Outside that, nothing happens to your roof. In fact, the panels can protect underlying roofing materials from the elements, increasing longevity.
At a minimum, a solar solution includes the solar panels, an inverter and a smart meter. Many clients also opt for monitoring software and a battery. Don’t worry if this is new to you. Your Energy Consultant will explain how this works in simple terms.
You’ll officially be powering your home with the energy created by your roof. You can also monitor your energy production and usage through our app.
Financial Considerations
In most cases, you’ll still receive an electricity bill. Our goal is to design a solution that reduces that bill as much as possible. The size of the system, whether you have a battery added and the time you use your appliances can all affect how much power, if any, you draw and share back to the grid.
When your Bare Energy solar solution is generating more energy than is being used, the excess energy will either flow back into the grid or to charge your battery where you have one. Once your battery is full, any of your excess energy produced will then be shared back into the grid.
Some clients choose to purchase their solar solution outright. Finance is another popular option for clients who want to start reaping the benefits of solar power today and use savings on their power bill to offset repayments.
If you’re interested in understanding your finance options, speak to an Energy Consultant, who can guide you through the finance application process.
Your solar solution will start generating savings from day one. Whilst every home is different, residential solar systems without batteries typically have a payback period of around three to five years. If you move within this period you can rest assured your investment has not only saved you money from day one, but has also likely added value to your home.
Typically homes with solar systems have a higher resale value than homes without solar systems. This is because more homebuyers are looking for a home that comes energy efficient and solar ready.
